Barbara Maxaline (Eastep) Samuels

Barbara Maxaline (Eastep) Samuels, 83, of Hindsville, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Springdale, Arkansas.  She was born December 2, 1942, in Huntsville to Thomas Eastep and Nona (Laird) Eastep.  She worked as a house cleaner. 

On July 9, 1961, Barbara married the love of her life, Lavon Samuels, at her parent’s home on Bohannon Mountain.  They were married by Sheridan Johnson. 

Barbara was well-known for making quilts and crocheting blankets for everyone.  She and Lavon were avid campers who loved to camp at Boston.  There, they enjoyed many days with family and friends.  They went on many side-by-side trips through beautiful mountains.  She loved her fur babies who went camping with them. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mildred Bilyeu and two sons-in-law: Calvin Long and Jim Bolinger.  Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, Lavon; her son, Steve; her daughter, Belinda; seven grandchildren: Jonathon, Amanda, Tommy, Jon and Kayla, Kristen, Brittany and Brad, Matthew and Tell and eight great grandchildren: Silvia, Jessie, Mandy, Bentley, Bailey, Hannah, Calvin and Logan.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Crystal Hills Family Fellowship Church, 10602 Arkansas 16, Elkins, Arkansas, with Pastor Jasper Hankins officiating.  Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery near Boston, Arkansas.  Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2026, at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jonathon Long, Brad Ballinger, Ronnie McCoy, Carl Sloan, Clifford Marbut and Gary Samuels. 

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at Springdale Dialysis and the staff at Edgewood Nursing Home who took such excellent care of her.
