Charles Mason Obituary

Charles Goldman “C.G” Mason, 85, of Hindsville, passed away, Friday, March 7, 2025 at home, Whitener, AR the son of Philip Alvin and Beatrice Mirah (Bison) Mason. C.G. married high school sweetheart, Madlyn Sutton, February 8, 1958 at Jim Sutton farm, War Eagle, AR and together they had three children.

C.G. and Madlyn farmed Hindsville Valley, raising horses, cattle and poultry. C.G. is one of the last old cowboys of the community, a pillar of the community, Deacon of the Hindsville First Baptist Church. C.G. loved God, Family and Country. He loved children watching and helping them grow to be God’s blessings. Early on he combined his love of God, horses and children when he helped organize the Ozark Junior Rodeo Association, OJRA. When they scheduled a Sunday afternoon rodeo, they would have a Sunday Morning Worship Service. C.G. would share the Bible with them. They organized a fellowship of Christian Athletes Cowboy chapter during that time. He helped organize Hindsville Rural Fire Department, serving as a fireman and board member for 48 years. Served of the Hindsville Community Board, where he helped build the Hindsville Bi-Centennial Park. Was a 50+ AQHA breeder. Raising and breeding many excellent quarter horses. C.G. accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of 9. Was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at Hindsville First Baptist. As a Gideon speaker he enjoyed giving the Gideon Report to churches across Madison County. C.G. was a member of the Huntsville Rodeo Association. They moved the rodeo arena to Governors Hill during his Presidency.

C.G. was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Larry Mason and one sister, Coleen Glaze. He is survived by his wife Madlyn; one daughter and son-in-law Jerry and Jerry Jo Hamm; two sons Chuck Mason and Kent Mason. 11 Grandchildren, 16 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Granddaughter: one sister; Yvonne Watson and one brother-in-law; Loy Watson, and one sister-in-law Donna Mason; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, March 10, 2025 at Hindsville Chaple located 4373 S. Main St. Hindsville, AR. 72738 from 5-7 PM.  Service will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Hindsville Chaple at 2:00 PM followed by burial at Vaughan Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hindsville First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 113, Hindsville, AR. 72738.
