Darrell Wayne Lackey

Darrell Wayne Lackey, 74 of Crosses, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026 in Crosses. He was born September 15, 1951 in Delaney, Arkansas to Alfred Lackey and Betty (Hollingsworth) Lackey.

He was a man who loved two things deeply; his family and the land he worked.  Farming wasn't just what he did, it was who he was.  He believed in hard work and always taking care of his family. When he wasn't with the cows, he was watching Nascar or cheering on his favorite football team. His passion is in the land and the cattle he tended, the values he passed down, and the family he loved so much.  He will be deeply missed, but will be remembered every hay season, every race day and every football Sunday.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Donnie Lackey and Timothy Lackey, and a sister Connie Lackey Barnes.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Lackey; one son, Sheldon and Brandy Lackey; one granddaughter, Abby Lackey, one grandson, Gage and Savannah Lackey, one great granddaughter, Everleigh, one brother, Jimmy Lackey and five sisters, Cathy Shepley,  Judy Kloster, Shirley and Ricky Nobles, Debbie and Arthur Deleporte, Janie and Joe Bruton and several nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00am - 11:00am on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Crosses Community Church with funeral services following at 11:00am at the church with Pastor Rex Eaton officiating.  Burial will take place at Patrick Cemetery.  Those serving as Pallbearers will be, Ronnie Caudle, Travis Keller, Cody Keller, Rick Eaton, Don Morgan and Tate Huff.

Arrangements are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service.
