David Max Self

David Max Self, 62, of Huntsville passed away, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at his home. He was born May 5, 1963, in Barstow, California to Gerald Self Sr and Wanell (Usery) Self.

A passionate outdoorsman, David loved to hunt and fish his entire life. He was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Billie Jo Helton; one grandson, Stetson Self and one nephew, Terry Lynn Pendergist III. 

Survivors include his mother, Wanell Self of Huntsville; his lifelong companion, Shelly Hollenbeck of the home; one brother, Gerald Self Jr of Huntsville; three sisters, Brenda Landry and husband Terry of Springtown, Texas, Karen Pendergist and husband Terry of Jonesboro, Tennessee, Ronda Hight of Cullman, Alabama; three sons, Michael Self and wife Kirstyn of Huntsville, Anthony Self and wife Amanda of Davie, Florida, Brett Self and wife Tara of Huntsville; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.   

A visitation will be 1-2 PM Thursday, June 19, 2025, in the Chapel of the Madison County Funeral Service, 4373 S. Main St in Hindsville. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2 PM  with Brother Jim Gstohl officiating. Burial will follow at Harwood Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Brett Self, Tara Self, Anthony Self, Amanda Self, Michael Self and Kirstyn Self.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Pendergist, Tommy Simmons and David’s ten grandchildren. 

Funeral Services are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service.
