Donald Wayne Casteel, 76 of Bella Vista, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas surrounded by loved ones. He was born January 5, 1947 in Huntsville to the late Arthur and Grace (Stamps) Casteel. He owned 68 Gun & Pawn in Huntsville for several years. He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a prankster and loved playing tricks on family and friends alike. He had a temper and you didn’t need a mood ring to tell what he was thinking; you only needed to watch his one good eye. He was an amazing man though. He was a hero to his family; he was the only call you needed in time of trouble. They broke the mold when they made him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Lou Jones; and one brother, James E. Casteel.
He is survived by one son, Donnie Casteel of Malvern; one daughter, Sherri Crowder (Charlie) of Huntsville; one grandson, Brett Self (Tara) of Huntsville; one granddaughter, Cassidy Casteel of Fayetteville; two great granddaughters, Savannah Self and Sierra Self of Huntsville, and one great grandson, Noah Casteel of Malvern; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. He never met a stranger.
The family will host a private memorial service at a later date. Memorials may be made to Children’s Hospital. Funeral services are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service of Huntsville.
