It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Edith Mary Brassette, lovingly known as Edie, on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on December 23, 1950, in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was an unsung hero with a heart of gold. With unwavering love, compassion, kindness, strength, generosity and understanding, Edie was always present when a family member or friend needed to be rescued from any number of life's challenges.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Truitt Anthony Brassette, Mercedes Dufour Brassette, her beloved brothers, Jon Brassette, Duane Brassette and sister Phyllis Brassette. She is survived by her partner Dennis Hermann, her three children, Love Mark Morgan, Sunshine Crystal Morgan and Joshua Joseph Morgan, their father, Joseph Jesse Morgan and her beloved grandchildren Molly, Jude, Mercedes and Dakota, along with step grandchildren Brennan and Carly, as well as nieces and nephews Tanya, Eric, Laura, Mark, Richard, Kevin, Agatha, Amy and Alice, cousins and lifelong friends.
Edie grew up in Chalmette, Louisiana, and in Pennsylvania. She began her education at Our Lady of Prompt Succor (OLPS) and later attended Andrew Jackson High School in St. Bernard Parish. She continued her studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in home economics and later at the University of New Orleans, where she studied sociology, and at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in the field of landscape design.
With a joie de vivre, Edie loved gardening, hiking, cooking, fashion, writing, traveling, and the water. She truly enjoyed her life as a homemaker and seamstress. She leaves behind the spirit of love, dedication and devotion that will forever touch the hearts and minds of everyone who knew her.
