Gary Paul Ackerman, 78 of Huntsville, Arkansas passed away on Monday, May 22,2023 at his home. he was born on July, 5,1944 in Pike, New York to Paul and Vivian Ellis Ackerman.
Gary, in his earlier years, worked on several ranches in Texas, including the Swenson Ranch. He also worked for a TV Cable company installing cable in Texas and to the northeastern United States, which was a first for many of these areas.
After marrying, he started working on a dairy farm. Eventually starting his own dairy farm with his two sons. He owned and operated Ackerman Dairy Inc in Arkansas and Wisconsin for over 30 years. He was one of the first artificial insemination technicians in NWA. He AI’d several dairy and beef cattle in Madison county. He was a diesel mechanic and worked on tractors, mowers, and balers for area farmers and neighbors. He was always willing to to lend a helping hand.
After retiring from the dairy business, he helped Stephen and Brenda build their dream house. As he was building, he would tell stories of building houses, when he was younger on Mt. Sequoyah in Fayetteville. As you can tell, he was a jack of all trades. He never found anything he couldn’t fix. Many farmers can attest to this as he would stay however late it took to get them going again in the field.
