Hayden Mack Scates, 77, of Spring Valley died Friday, June 9, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born July 5, 1945 in Forum to Henry Scates and Truley (Pribble) Scates.
Hayden was a water well driller, maintenance worker at Springdale Farms and a lifelong Dairy Farmer. He was a horse enthusiast, who loved trail riding, gardening and his dogs; Slinky, Axel, Buffy and Paisley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sisters, Georgie Mae and Eathel Faye, infant brother,Harvey Thomas and brother, Hershel Scates; nephew, Terry Lee Scates and his in laws, Elvin and Leatha James.
Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Betty Scates; daughter, Christy Scates; son, Brook Scates and wife Heather; four grandsons, Garrett Wieland, Laramie Wieland, Taten Scates and Kysen Scates; brother, Thomas Scates; sister Judy Woodell and husband Woody; three nephews, Tony Herrington, Bobby Herrington and Tommy Scates and countless cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-7PM Friday, June 16 at the Astounding Grace Church in Hindsville. A memorial service will follow at 7PM with Brother Gary Digby and Randall Galloway officiating.
Private Interment will be in the Marshall Cemetery in Forum, Arkansas at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Marshall Cemetery 6848 Madison 8500, Huntsville, AR 72740.
