James Vandiver, 69 of Huntsville passed away January 18, 2021 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born February 9, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Ok to Jack and Huldah (Srock) Vandiver. After a family tragedy he was adopted with two of his sisters by P.G. and Nelleye Parks of Tupelo, Oklahoma. He graduated from Olney High School in 1970. He served in the National Guard.
He married Linda (Ross) Johnson on June 1,1974. Mr. Vandiver was a Christian and together with his wife they pastored churches in Oklahoma and had a radio ministry. He was a member of the Lower Campground United Baptist Church near Marble.
Mr. Vandiver was preceded in death by both sets of parents; two sisters, Jackie Parks and Connie Singleton both of Oklahoma and two brothers, Mike Followwell and Joe Wilerson, both of Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Vandiver of the home; daughter, Jalisha Vandiver of Conway; two sons, Jeremy Johnson of Springdale and Caleb Vandiver and wife Stephanie of Berryville; four grandchildren, Trevor Johnson of Fayetteville, Keely Johnson of Kingsland, Texas, Jon Lutes of Conway and Benjamin Vandiver of Berryville; two brothers, Bill Tucker and wife Toni of Oklahoma City and Jeff Hilton and wife Joyce of Lascassas, Tn and two sisters, Joyce Tomlinson of Tupelo, Ok. and Josephine Hoy of Oklahoma City.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 5-7PM, in the chapel of Madison County Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2PM at the Lower Campground United Baptist Church with Pastor Ryan Stokes officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Young, Marty Foster, Jesse Davis, Hobie Davis, Brandon Martin and Shannon Fancher. Funeral services are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service in Huntsville.
