Lawton Edgmon, 84 of Mossville passed away, Monday, October 21, 2024, at his home. He was born on December 2, 1939, in Mossville to Jesse Edgmon and Martha Ann (Watson) Edgmon. He served as the caretaker for the Mossville Cemetery for many years. He was known in the community for his gardening. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Velma, Cleo, Eileen, Bertha, Glenna, J.E, Louise, Wade, Bonnie, Eddie Jo and Ruby; daughter, Edith Diane Edgmon; grandson, Ryan Edgmon and great granddaughter, Brylee Stapp.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Jean Edgmon; children, Terry Edgmon and wife Marsha of Mossville, Anita Sampson and husband Danny of Houston, TX, Bruce Edgmon and wife Edith of Mossville, Brad Edgmon and wife Holly of Kingston and Lisa White and husband Kevin of Houston, TX; brother, Ward Edgmon and wife Phyllis of Low Gap; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren and family and friends too numerous to mention.
A funeral service will be held 2PM, Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Mossville Baptist Church with Pastors Dennis Reynolds and Bobby Young officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Mossville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Derek Edgmon, Jordan Gardea, Kip Edgmon, Brent Edgmon, Logan Riley and Robert Edgmon.
Honorary Pallbearers will be : Jim Edgmon, Pete Lager, Wesley Sparks, Randy Reynolds, Don Edgmon and Dorlin Sparks.
Funeral services are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service of Huntsville.
