Lonnie Eugene Wood

Lonnie Eugene Wood “Slim” of Huntsville, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale, Arkansas at the age of 75.  He was born on February 23, 1950 in Red Star, Arkansas to Virgil Edward Wood and Juanita Virgie Lewis Wood.

Lonnie worked for J.B. Hunt as a truck driver,  He enjoyed watching the swamp people, enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved to work.  It was his way of escape.  Most of all, if Lonnie loved anything, above all else, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was the best dad and grandfather.  Family was everything to him. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles Wood and Ed Wood.

He is survived by his loving sweetheart, Mary Stewart, his loving daughter, Crystal Wood of Huntsville, Arkansas, his loving son, Michael (Cheryl) Wood of Huntsville, Arkansas, daughter by choice, Dana Ezell of Conway, Arkansas, , one brother, Jerry Wood of Fallsville, Arkansas, five sisters, Loretta Villines of Marble, Arkansas, Lorene (Jimmy) of Goshen, Arkansas, Linda (David) Graves of Huntsville, Arkansas, Glenda Wood of Springdale, Arkansas and Brenda Forbush of Fayetteville, Arkansas, four grandchildren, David Wood of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Alexander Leflett of Salt Lake City, Utah, Stephen Taylor III of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Mercedes Coleman of Sarasota, Florida, four great-grandchildren, Vivian Scriven of Noel, Missouri, Steeley Wood of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Miles Taylor of Joplin, Missouri and Phoenix Taylor of Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Those serving as Pallbearers will be; Derrick Wood, Donovan Villines, David Wood, Michael Wood, Ron Bolinger and Jim York.  Honorary Pallbearers will be; Jerry Wood, Jerry McCollough and Donnie Logan.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Madison County Funeral Service, Hindsville, Arkansas.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Madison County Funeral Service, Hindsville, Arkansas.  Burial will take place at Big Sandy Cemetery, Huntsville, Arkansas.
