Mark Stanley Nelson

Mark Stanley Nelson of Witter, Arkansas, passed away on November 22, 2025 at the Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 75.  He was born on April 3, 1950 in Winfield, Kansas to Frank Kenneth Nelson and Louis Jean Angleton Nelson.

He married Velva Jean Shaffer on December 24, 1984.  Mark enjoyed working on cars with his sons, daughters and friends, fishing with family and hunting waterfowl with his long standing friends, Gary and Pat Winegar and had many "projects" of fixing things around the house instead of replacing them, and sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn't.  Mark was a dedicated diesel mechanic over 40 years, working on anything from Porsche to Peterbilt's.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren any minute he could.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, John Clark.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Velva Jean Nelson, son, David E Nelson of Wichita, Kansas, son, Mark A Nelson and wife Amber Nelson, three grandchildren of Rogers, Arkansas, one step-son, Eric Baker, daughter, Nichole Nickels, husband William Nickels and two grandchildren of Lincoln, Arkansas, step-daughter, Stacy Hinrichs and two grandchildren of Goshen, Arkansas, brother, Frances "Frank" Nelson and wife Mary Sue of Freeport, Illinois and brother, Kenneth Nelson and Ginny from New Haven, Connecticut, Mark Nelson had 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 10:00AM with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00AM with Pastor Gary Winegar officiating at Madison County Funeral Service Chapel in Hindsville, Arkansas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service, Hindsville, Arkansas.
