Olan Alford Barnes, 75 of Elkins went to be with his Lord with his wife by his side, on a beautiful snowy Sunday, January 16, 2022 in Fayetteville. Olan was born on October 4, 1946 in Round Pound, AR and resided in Elkins, AR for 37 years. He was a much-loved husband, father, Papa, brother and friend. Although he retired several years ago from Central Freight Trucking, he stayed active in his church and community. He loved to be with his family, friends and enjoyed being in the outdoors. He developed a passion of creating beautiful treasures from pieces of wood and lived to share those creations with those around him. He was extremely giving, and it showed in the way he lived daily. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Herman O. Barnes and Lucy L Hicks; a sister Shelby Jean Boze, brother Floyd Boze and sister Nancy Barnes.
Olan is survived by the love of his life of 37 years, Karen Barnes of the home; three daughters, Veronica Lockhart and husband Ron of Van Buren, AR, Shawn Smith and husband Eric of Centerton, AR and Kimberly Cockrell and husband Robert of Rudy, AR; two sons, Scott Evans and wife Mary of Wesley, AR, and Keith Evans and wife Amy of Fayetteville, AR; two brothers, Steve Barnes of Beebe, AR and Larry Barnes and wife Donna of Ft. Smith, AR; 13 grandchildren, Josh Hartsock, Trey Tucker, Erica Roughton, Scotty Evans, Ethan Evans, Kacy Brannon, Codie Wise, Hannah Smith, Layne Evans, Jakob Evans, Krystal Wise, Brandon Evans and Ben Evans; nine great-grandchildren and three fur babies.
A memorial service to celebrate Olan’s life will be held at a later date for family. “He fought a good fight, he kept the faith, he won the race!”. 2 Timothy 4:7 .We will love and miss you forever Papa Olan
