Rodney Darryl Wilkerson of Huntsville, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the VA Medical Center at the age of 75. He was born on September 9, 1950 in Denton, Texas to Lindon Lee and Beatrez Salas Wilkerson
He graduated Denton high school in Denton, Texas then went on to join the Navy. He was a fighter squadron VF-191 stationed in NAS Miramar. He did three WESPAC cruises onboard the USS Oriskany to Vietnam. It was during his service he was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in 1976 and has been a member since. When he came home he became a telephone communications lineman. His coworkers called him “TwoDogs” because of his Indian background. He retired at the age of 63 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
He liked tinkering with things, traveling, listening to music, researching family history in the Indian Cultural, and dancing with his wife, Cheryl. He was known as the “world famous chef”, for his gift giving, for his smile, for his love of Dr Pepper, and his love for the church family and his Savior, Jesus Christ
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Eric Vincent Wilkerson and one brother, Michael Wilkerson
Rodney is survived by his wife Cheryl Meyers Wilkerson of Huntsville, Arkansas, who he married on June 25, 2022, three daughters, Kelli (Shallidon) Messer of Omaha, Texas, Gina Kay (Ron) Johnson of DeKalb, Texas and Sarah Wilkerson of Denton, Texas, two brothers, Ritchie (Susan) Wilkerson of Colorado and Tony (Carol) Wilkerson of Georgia, one sister, Diane Burrola of Denton Texas, his grandchildren, Colton Wilkerson, Eric Montgomery, John Montgomery Jr., Kayla Messer, Hayden Messer, Hendrix Nisbet, Clementine Chase, and great grandson Ethan Ryan Montgomery.
Additional survivors include stepchildren, Jason (Shelia) Sigman, Michael (Myle) Meyers, David Meyers, Donald (Bobbie Jo) Randall, Josh (Betty Jo) Smith, Caleb (Billie Jo) Blackson, John (Rachel) Meyers, 22 Grandchildren, and 18 Great-Grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Madison County Funeral Service Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Madison County Funeral Service Chapel in Hindsville, Arkansas. Burial will take place at Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas with Military Honors.
