Obituary – Dr. Sheldon Elizabeth Landon Tulsa, Ok

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Victory Church 7700 South Lewis Ave, Tulsa, OK on March 30, 2025 at 6PM.

Shelli was born May 15, 1957  to David and Katherine Jones of Bel Air, Maryland.  Shelli married her loving husband  on the steps of the Temple at the Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  She with her husband hosted prayer services at the Tulsa Prayer House since 2007.   Shelli and Barry continued to travel and teach throughout the United States conducting church services and other special meetings.  The last two years Shelli and Barry participated in the services at the Passion Play and she continued to paint portraits of tourists.  Shelli's love for God and for people is the strongest driving force of her life.  She dedicated 45 years of her life sharing the love and faith in God all over the world.  Shelli networked with local, regional, national, and international ministries.  She pastored at 5 different churches.  She served as a missionary in Guatemala. During her lifetime she was part of 3 revivals.  One in Jones Assembly of God, that lasted for 9 weeks, meeting daily with many miraculous miracles.   One in a Catholic Church in Boston for 9 weeks continously meeting daily.

Shelli held a PhD in Education, with a PFA in Film/Animation from Rhode Island School of Design, including studies at Ulpan Akiva & Oxford.  She also graduated from Rhema Bible College. She has traveled the globe in the realm of art, journalism, film production, diplomacy and politics.  Shelli taught at Oral Roberts University as a Master Artist at Large. She published and authored many books and articles about art, theology, and United States History. Shelli authored Senate Resolution #550 in 2015 which kept the Star Spangle Banner as the national anthem with bi-partisan sponsors and won a unanimous US Senate vote there after hosting a patriotic event with murals and other art & musical displays on the Washington Mall at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. Shelli was also a member of DAR – Daughters of American Revolution thru ancestory to General John G. Steele, aide de comp to General George Washington.   General John Steele and his brother-in-law printed the first copies of the Declaration of Indepedence, the first copies of the Constitution,  the first currency of American nation, the first Geneva Bible New Testaments, and the first spellers for schools.  He was also Aid-de- comp to General George Washington.                                                                                                                        

Internationally known artist/painter, musician/singer, writer, journalist, TV and radio producer/host and minister Dr. Sheldon Elizabeth JBM Landon was promoted by the Lord to her higher calling, the latter part of 2024. 

Shelli's artwork was displayed for 28 years at the Sacred Arts Museum/Passion Play in Eureka Springs Arkansas and at the Dallas Museum of Art with Thomas Kincade and Joni Earachson Tada.  She additionally has portraits of Bill Clinton in the Presidential Library, Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir's Library in Israel, and art showings at the Pentagon, Capital Building, Senate Rotunda, Lincoln Memorial, and the Massachusetts State House.

Her most famous piece of work, the mural “The Travail of the Flag”, has been all over the world in the hands of officials of US Presidents, Senators, and Congressmen as well as officials and ministers in China, Russia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Jamaica, Peru, Italy, and many other countries. “Travail of the Flag” was displayed on over 45 billboards across the nation and on 18 wheel trailers. The mural displayed across from the Twin Towers a week before 9/11, and as the people walked across the bridge with their wounded, invited them to call for help and prayer.

She painted a depiction of Jesus on the Berlin Wall, six months before the wall came down.  Over six million people saw it thru German Christian television and tens of thousands saw it as they walked thru the wall for freedom.  Shelli was commissioned to paint by Governor Ashcroft's family a “Breakfast with Jesus” for his father James Ashcroft, the previous president of Evangel University and Central Bible College.

Shelli became a very accomplished musician and singer. She played the piano, guitar, flute, and learned the harp at age 35. Her ancestery dates back to King David of Israel, who sang and played the harp.

While singing at the Pentagon, Shelli sang the Star Spangled Banner and hit a double high A, and then a lightning bolt came and struck the sidewalk, which caused many officers to come out.  A fourteen week drought in the area was broken at the same time.

Early on in her career, Shelli worked at NASA with Metcalf Communications, who helped launch the first Christian broadcasting station like 700 Club and others. She had the  privilege to work with many NASA astronauts and scientists.

In 2005, Shelli, serving as an assistant to the ambassador to Nagaland, a state in the north-eastern region of India, became involved in a human rights campaign to rid the people of terrorism.  Shelli's devotion to saving the people and her bravery was instrumental in stopping the killing of thousands of Christians.  She was later knighted “Lady Sheldon” on the Queen Mary in Los Angeles.  The campaign was also filmed as a news documentary, which earned Shelli an on-air reporter spot for the National Press, Washington, D.C. For many years.           

Shelli is survived by her husband Barry Landon, her sister Meg (David) Schnitzlein, her brothers Mark (Glenda) Jones and Matt (Jennifer) Jones                                                                                                                                

Niece and Nephews are Bobby, Louis, Nathan (Erica) and Joshua Schnitzlein, Drew (Sophia) and Taylor Jones

Stepchildren are Carissa (Ace) Perreault, Joshua Landon, Tassey (Ellis) Rance, and Rona (Keith) Maintrize

Step grandchildren are Skye, Quinn, and Tatum Perreault, Ryan Ellis, and Ricky and Julio Baker.

Great nephews are Collin Schnitzlein and Wilder Abbott-Louis.

She was preceded in death by her father's parents: William Henry Jones and Margaret Frances Cochran, her mother's parents: Robert Price Ferrell and Elizabeth Sheldon Maxwell, her own parents David Jude Jones and Katherine Sheldon Ferrell and her older brother Joseph.
