We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Virginia Vera (Phillips) Baughman, age 89, who went to be with her heavenly father on January 5, 2024 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born April 11, 1934 in Rudd, Arkansas to Norman Phillips and Daisy (Usrey) Phillips. Virginia was loved by many. She touched the hearts of many family and friends throughout her life. She was a Christian woman who loved to help anyone in their time of need. She was very kind hearted, loved sewing, crocheting and anything to do with yard work. She also loved flowers and her pets dearly. She was a member of the Marble United Baptist Church, the Red Hat Club and the Lady Bug Friendship club of Aurora for many years. Spending time with her friendship members was very special to her. Also, Virginia entered lots of her talented work in the Madison County Fair, winning Grand Champion and Best of Show and numerous first place awards.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Dewey Baughman, son, Larry Baughman, sister, Betty Morgan and her parents, Norman and Daisy Phillips.
Virginia leaves behind her son, Dale Baughman of Huntsville; two daughters, Janice Long and husband John and Teresa Hawpe and husband Rory both of Huntsville; two sisters, Alma Guinn of Turlock, CA and Charlene Gonzales of Red Bluff, CA; thirteen grandchildren, also four very special children she loved and thought of as her own grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.
An open visitation will be Wednesday, January 10, 2024 in the chapel of Madison County Funeral Service. A funeral service will be 1PM, Thursday at the Marble United Baptist Church with Brother Coy Siegrist officiating. Burial will follow at the Alabam Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service of Huntsville.
